Mitch Brown has returned to the winners circle taking out the Gorilla Ladders Box Hill Pro-Am.

Grey and stormy skies greeted the AM field in the Gorilla Ladders Box Hill Pro-Am, the large field featured ex-AFL footballers Glenn Archer, Doug Hawkins and Tony Shaw, journalist Jon Ralph, radio host and PGA Professional Mark Allen and European Tour Professional Marcus Fraser.

Crowd favourite Marcus Fraser, back from the European Tour had plenty of followers as he set about his round. Starting from the 7^th, Fraser opened with a birdie and followed it with two more on the 13^th and 14^th.

Fraser then birdied the 18^th and the 1^st to take the outright lead at 5-under with just 5 holes to play.

He made a good up and down par save on the 2^nd from behind the green.

Costly bogeys on the 3^rd and 4^th saw him slip to 3-under par with just the long Par 3 6^th hole to play.

His tee shot finish 15 feet left of the pin and when the birdie put lipped out he was left in a tie for 2^nd place with James Hartley and defending champion Luke Hickman.

Brown began his round on the 13^th hole and immediately got to it with a birdie. He followed this with a birdie on the 14^th before disaster struck with a double-bogey 6 on the 16^th sending him back to level par.

A sensational eagle 3 on the par 5 18^th and the birdie that followed saw him draw level with morning leader Hartley.

Brown bogeyed the 2^nd before birdieing the 5^th and 7^th to move to now be just one shot behind Fraser with five holes to play.

He opted to lay up with an iron on the short par 4 8^th. In trying to avoid the bunker he missed the fairway and also the par-saving putt to slip back to 3-under and in a tie with Hartley and Fraser.

Clutch birdies on the 11^th and his final hole the 12^th saw him jump back to 5-under the card, the outright lead and the title.

“I haven’t been playing a great deal over the winters months.  My partner and I had another baby and my focus has been on the family,” said Brown.

“It’s nice to be back in the winner’s circle and I look forward now to the rest of the Victorian season.”
