2019 Victorian PGA Trainee Graduation & Awards Dinner

Green Acres Golf Club was the venue for the 2020 Victorian Trainee Graduation & Awards Dinner on Tuesday January 14th. The night celebrated the achievements of Victorian Trainees in 2019, including the graduation of 19 Trainees into Full Vocational Membership. 

The night was attended by PGA COO Stuart Hergt, as well as representatives from PGA Education partners Acushnet and On Course Golf. 

Victorian Committee Chairman Tim Moore welcomed our newest PGA Members to the Association and wished them well for a career as long and as fulfilled as his. 

Each graduate thanked their partners, family and friends, their indenturing PGA Member, their golf club and acknowledged the support they received throughout their traineeship from PGA staff and look forward to a long career in the golf industry.

The Titleist & Footjoy Excellence in Education Awards were presented by Matt Street, PGA Training Manager, & Jay Seater, Titleist Golf Ball Product Manager from Acushnet. The leading Victorian’s in each year level were Callum McKenzie (Year 1 – Latrobe), Emily Pell (Year 2 – Yarra Bend) and Ben Pisani (Year 3 – Royal Melbourne).

The 2019 CPM Victorian Trainee Pro Am of the Year was won by the Anytime Fitness Mornington Trainee Pro Am, which was accepted by Brad Stephenson. 

Dale Crothers (Year 1 – Yarrawonga & Mulwala) took out the 2019 Victorian Trainee Order of Merit title following a successful year that consisted of 6 wins, 11 top 10’s from 27 events and only failed to score points in 1 match. Crothers won the Vic/Tas/SA Trainee Championships back in May and also scored Top 10 finishes at the QLD and NSW Trainee Championships.

The 2019 Victorian Trainee of the Year was awarded to Ben Pisani, Year 3 Trainee at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Pisani achieved the mark of High Distinction in Game Development and Distinction in Small Business, Coaching and Management. These results helped him finish 2nd in the National Academic Rankings for Year 3 Trainees. Pisani was also the winner of 3 Trainee Matches, finished in the Top-10 18 times which saw him finish 2nd in the Victorian Order of Merit and 19th in the National Trainee Averages.
