With only one finish outside the top-10 in his last four starts Scott Hend will be the Australian to watch at this week’s King’s Cup tournament in Thailand.
Hend, who won his way to the European Tour with victory at the co-sanctioned Honk Kong Open in October, has broken 70 in 10 of his last 16 rounds and has been under par in all but two.
The hot scoring has seen him finish first, second, 16th and T7 and climb to 6th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
The big hitting Queenslander finished T7 in the event last year and has been nominated on the Asian Tour website as one of four "Contenders" for the tournament.
While Hend will have victory on his mind this week many of the 14 Australians will be looking to consolidate positions on the Order of Merit to ensure playing rights for next year.
Terry Pilkadaris slipped to 60th after last week’s tournament, the final spot to earn guaranteed status and will need to post some good results over the closing weeks of the Tour to ensure his position for 2015.
Also lurking dangerously close to the tail end of the earnings list are Kalem Richardson (56), Kieran Pratt (51) and to a lesser extent Scott Barr (41).
Also in the field this week are Sam Brazel (coming off a top 5 finish at last week’s Manila Masters), Kalem Richardson, Unho Park, Kunal Bhasin, Andrew Dodt, Matt Steiger, Adam Groom, Jack Munro and Chris Gaunt.
