Allan rockets into Web.com top-10

Steve Allan might have been five shots behind Web.com winner Andrew Landry this week but the Victorian’s T2 finish has given him a huge head-start to getting back on the PGA TOUR next season.

Steve Allan might have been five shots behind Web.com winner Andrew Landry this week but the Victorian’s T2 finish has given him a huge head-start to getting back on the PGA TOUR next season.

"SteveAllan picked up a cheque for $61,600 for his 6-under-par
effort at the Cartagena Championship in Columbia and jumped from 52nd
to seventh on the money list.

With the top-25 money earners guaranteed a PGA TOUR card at
the end of the year players are keen to get as high up the money list as
possible early in the season.

There are three Australians already inside the top-25
through three events with rookie Oliver Goss joining Allan and winner of the
year’s first event, Mathew Goggin.

Goss shared the first round lead in Columbia with fellow
Australian Adam Crawford after both fired superb 8-under rounds of 64 but
neither could sustain the momentum.

In difficult conditions which saw several delays Goss
struggled the rest of the week but managed to hang on to a share of 10th
and with winnings of $17,500 moved to 20th on the money list.

Crawford found the going more difficult and with rounds of
76-75-82 fell all the way to a share of 53rd.

12 Australians teed up for the week with eight making the
cut. Brett Drewitt and Aron Price (T22) were next best after Goss while rookie
Bryden MacPherson (T37) made his first cut in three starts for the year.

Mathew Goggin (T62) and Ash Hall (T65) were at the tail of
the field while Alistair Presnell, Bronson La’Cassie, James Nitties and Rhein
Gibson all missed the weekend.
