Percy to hit back in John Deere

With just six events left before the FedEx Cup finals get underway Cameron Percy will be hunting a good finish at this week’s John Deere Classic as he tries to push his way into the top-125 and a place in the lucrative end of season events.

"CameronThe South Australian who sits 149th
in the standings has been playing good golf in recent weeks and but for a blip
in the final round at the Greenbrier last week was on track for a top-20
finish.

Percy, who graduated to the PGA Tour after
a top-25 money list finish on the Web.com Tour last season, has had mixed
results this year with eight missed cuts in 18 starts.

However, he has shot in the 60’s 13 of his
last 16 rounds and while he has missed the cut in two of his three John Deere appearances
he finished T7 in 2011 so has some good memories to draw on.

With The Open to be played next week Percy
is one of just five Australians in this week’s field joined by Steven Bowditch,
Aaron Baddeley, Greg Chalmers and Rod Pampling.

Bowditch, Chalmers and Pampling will all
take their place in the field at St Andrews while Percy or Baddeley could join
them in Scotland with a win this week.

Both Chalmers and Pampling get their starts
in the game’s oldest major courtesy of their high finishes at the PGA Tour of
Australasia’s Australian Open while Bowditch qualified through his good play in
the US this year.

Baddeley has had limited success at the
John Deere with a best of T9 in five appearances. That came in 2009 and, like
Percy, he is in need of some good results as the year winds down.

The three time PGA TOUR winner is enduring
his worst year on tour since gaining his card in 2003 and at 146th
in the FedEx Cup is in danger of losing his card for the first time in his
career.

He has no top-10’s this year and has missed
eight cuts in 19 starts but with everything to play for it it would be a
surprise if he didn’t lift in the last part of the year.
