Australian golf fans will be able to watch all four rounds of the Fiji International live and free thanks to PGA TV.
To be played at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course from 17-20 August the Fiji International is tri-sanctioned by the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, European Tour and Asian Tour.
A proud partner of the Fiji International since its inaugural staging the tournament will continue to be simulcast on FoxSports Australia in high definition.
“We launched PGA TV this year to ensure Australian golf fans could watch more golf. We have already seen great success with our live stream of the Victorian PGA Championship, Queensland PGA Championship and WA PGA Championship. The Fiji International will take PGA TV to the next level,” said Gavin Kirkman, CEO of the PGA of Australia, which oversees the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
“The Fiji International is made for TV. Located on one of the world’s best beaches the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course is stunning so it made sense for us to utilise PGA TV to ensure even more people can watch.
“Whilst we hope that more Aussie sports fans will be able to watch the Fiji International on PGA TV and be inspired to visit this great golf destination, we also look forward to profiling our members competing at the tournament via this platform.”
In 2014 Steven Jeffress was the inaugural champion of the Fiji International, the past two years PGA TOUR stars Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker have proven triumphant.
This year the course will be the star of the tournament as the re-design led by Vijay Singh is debuted to the world.
“The Fiji International has been the scene of some high quality golf and 2017 will be no different. A talented group of players from the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, European Tour and Asian Tour is being assembled which will ensure some thrilling golf is shown on PGA TV,” added Kirkman.
“We are also excited to unveil the new look Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course. I am sure that after Australian golf fans watch it on PGA TV, they will be booking a holiday to play it themselves.”
PGA TV is a new initiative from the PGA of Australia which not only allows more golf fans to watch golf but provides another platform to promote Fiji as a sporting destination.
“We are thrilled that the Fiji International will be live streamed into Australia via PGA TV, we commend the PGA of Australia on pursuing such an innovative platform,” said the Honourable Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism.
“Fiji is a beautiful holiday destination, and should be visited by all. It is also a great golf destination and the Fiji International has allowed us to spread that message throughout the world.”
“We want as many people watching and experiencing the Fiji International as possible and we look forward to PGA TV making that possible for Australian audiences and peck their interest to visit our shores and enjoy first hand our tourism products, including the best golf course in the world; which is a key market for Fiji.”
Utilising the same feed as FoxSports Australia, viewers on PGA TV will be in good hands with the commentary team providing a good mix of entertainment and knowledge.
Anchored by Brendon Julian for a second year, Australian Paul Gow and ‘The Voice of Asian Golf’ Dom Boulet will provide thorough analysis while on-course commentator Ossie Moore will bring fans closer to the action.
The Fiji International will be broadcast on FoxSports Australia and live streamed on PGA TV for five hours each round.
