Third year Trainee Jacob Boyce has put on a dominant performance in today’s 36 hole final to claim back-to-back Pampling Plates.

Boyce finished with a 6 and 5 victory over Dean Dagan, who unfortunately couldn’t replicate his form of the previous two days.

It wasn’t the start Dagan was looking for as Boyce who found himself ahead early in the match. Errors by Dagan on the closing two holes of the morning round all of a sudden had Boyce 5 up at lunch.

Dagan knew he needed a to win holes early and although he pegged one back, Boyce again produced quality shots to extinguish Dagan’s chances and as they headed into the final nine, Boyce found himself 7 up.

Although Dagan won the 29^th hole, it was too little too late as Boyce managed to square the next hole to see his lead 6 up with six holes to play. Two more quality shots by Boyce on the 31^st hole and the match done, as Boyce claimed a 6 and 5 win.

“It has been somewhat of a rough year with my results in tournaments, so today’s win is certainly going to go a long way to erase those memories,” said Boyce.

“There has been a lot of golf played over the past four days, and to be perfectly honest I truly believe that I was able to play myself into some form over the course of the week.”

Boyce was thankful to everyone who had played there part in the success of the Pampling Plate, but it was the Pampling family that he was most grateful towards.

“The Pampling Plate is one of the biggest tournaments on our trainee schedule and I really do need to thank both Rod and Ange Pampling for their unwavering support not only of this tournament, but the PGA Trainee program.

“The trainees really do appreciate all they do and it certainly is a highlight of my career to have hoisted the Pampling Plate twice.”

Although slightly disappointed with his performance in today’s final, Dagan was still happy with how his week played out.

“I never imagined reaching the final of the Pampling Plate, so to put myself into a position to win one of our biggest trainee tournaments is very satisfying,” said Dagan.

“I couldn’t quite get it going today and every time I looked like getting back into the match, an error snuck into my game. Unfortunately that’s golf, and even though I couldn’t get the job done, it’s still been an incredible week”

In the battle for third, Angus Porter put the disappointment of losing his semi final on the 20^th hole yesterday to beat Tom Major 4 and 2.
