Former ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open winner Jordan Zunic has posted the best finish of his rookie season on the European Challenge Tour with a T5 result in the Swiss Challenge.
The talented NSW player came home with a wet sail, a 3-under Sunday round of 68 his fourth sub-par score of the week.
The result is not only a confidence boost for Zunic but moved him 52 places to 35th on the season long Road to Oman list where the top-15 at season’s end graduate to the main European Tour.
Also pleased with his week’s work will be Ryan McCarthy who made just his second cut of the season on his way to a top-25 finish.
McCarthy, who has been a regular on the PGA Tour’s Latin America circuit in recent years, was 7-under for the week to be T22, one shot ahead of Nick Cullen who was T28.
Cullen, whose blistering final round last week rocketed him into the top-10, has now moved inside the top-50 on the Road to Oman as he tries to earn a full European Tour card.
Ben Eccles, Daniel Gaunt and Dimitrios Papadatos were the other Australians in the field, missing the cut which fell at 2-under.
