Second year Japan Tour player Wonjoon Lee has got his 2016 off to a good start with a top 10 finish at the co-sanctioned Singapore Open.

Lee, who earned his card at the 2014 Q-School and finished an impressive 35th on the 2015 money list, overcame a bogey on his second hole of the final round to post a 1-under-par 70 and be T8 in a field that included World Number 1 Jordan Spieth.

A third round 67 was the key for Lee at the weather interrupted tournament, the 4-under score moving him more than 20 places up the leader board and into the top five.

It was a good week also for Asian Tour regular Sam Brazel whose 6-under-par effort for the week was good for a T11 result.

Brazel was the best of the Australians who play full time in Asia on the 2015 money list and has been quietly improving his golf over the past two seasons.

Rounds of 72-67-69-70 were highlighted by good ball striking, his second round particularly impressive with 16 of 18 greens hit.

Despite a bogey start to his final round Brazel showed tenacity to hit back with a birdie and an eagle before the turn to move up four places on the leader board.

Scott Strange was the last of the Australians to finish in red figures, his 2-under total for the week good for a T23 result.

Japan Tour players Brad Kennedy (T51) and Matt Griffin (T66) were the only other Australians to make the cut, Brendan Jones missing out by one after rounds of 78-66.

Aron Price, Terry Pilkadaris, Kalem Richardson, Nick Cullen, Scott Barr, Adam Bland, David Gleeson and Jordan Zunic all missed the weekend’s play.
