The $30,000 prize purse is the biggest on the Victorian Swing of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series.

Both players took advantage of the benign early conditions to post a 7- under 65 to set the bar high for the afternoon field.

Wilkin burnt up the course with eight birdies, which included three in a row early on the back nine with his only blemish coming on the tough par four 14th hole.

"I had a great day today and really enjoyed the course, it was a pleasure to play," Wilkin said at presentations.

Clementson’s round on the other hand included three birdies, along with eagles on both the par five 7th and 16th holes.

"Thanks to the club and the sponsors, I’m already looking forward to coming back and defending next year," Clentson said following the win.

The morning players were greeted with perfect conditions before the wind set in making the afternoon a much tougher proposition.

Even with the lack of rain over this summer the Eynesbury layout was at its picture perfect best, a credit to the clubs course staff.

Andrew Martin, Ben Wharton and Andrew Pitt all trailed the leaders by four shots following the morning field after shooting a 3-under 69.

The trio were joined by afternoon players Chris Thorn and Clint Rice on 3-under as they finished in a tie for third place.

It is exciting times at Eynesbury, the club are looking to further increase this year’s prize money to a two-day $50,000 tournament next year, which will cement the event as the biggest in Victoria.

The next stop on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series is the $11,000 AAMI Gisborne Pro-Am on Friday 25th February.

The Eynesbury Masters is a part of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series which comprises of 200 events Australia wide.
