Robert Weinert’s game fell into place in the first round of
the Moranbah Mini Earthmovers Pro-Am.
Having struggled to find consistency in his game, Weinert
put the past few weeks behind him as he fired 9-under 63 at the Moranbah Golf
Club.
"There have been plenty of glimpses of form over the past
couple of weeks, but unfortunately the consistency hasn’t quite been there for
me," said Weinert.
"It all fell into place for me today; I was able to make
the putts I needed to keep my round going."
Heading into the second and final round, Weinert holds a
one shot lead over Ed Stedman who is recovering from a disappointing finish in
his last event.
Sitting four shots off the lead at the Moranbah Mini
Earthmovers Pro-Am is 2014 Fiji International champion Steven Jeffress.
While a win at Moranbah might be slightly beyond reach,
Jeffress is focused on shooting a low number in the final round to go towards
claiming the Onsite Rental Group Mining Town Series.
After five tournaments in the Series and with just one
round left to be played Jeffress is 32-under the card and three shots clear of
Paul Hayden.
