Marc Leishman is the latest Australian to confirm his
homecoming this summer of golf and he will tee up at the Australian PGA
Championship on the Gold Coast from 1-4 December.
Leishman will compete at the Australian PGA Championship
alongside World Number 6 Adam Scott the week after the pair combine to
represent Australia at the World Cup of Golf.
This is the first time since 2014 and since the tournament
has been co-sanctioned by the European Tour that both Leishman and Scott will compete
for the Kirkwood Cup. They will join defending champion Nathan Holman at RACV
Royal Pines Resort.
"I love Australia, I love the fans and I love the atmosphere
of the Australian PGA Championship so I am excited to be heading back to Royal
Pines," said Leishman.
"I hope Scotty and I tee it up at Royal Pines as the World
Cup champions and that we can celebrate with golf fans on the Gold Coast."
Leishman is a strong supporter of Australian golf and the ISPS
HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia and will play the Australian PGA Championship
after a solid year in the US.
On the PGA TOUR, Leishman recorded two top-10 finishes in
his 2016 season highlighted by a T5 at the Northern Trust Open.
This year’s Australian PGA Championship also marks a year
since Leishman’s most recent victory; the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
"Marc is always a favourite of the Gold Coast and we are
delighted to welcome him back to the Australian PGA Championship this year,"
said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
"He has a wonderful game to watch on course and always makes
time for his fans post round which makes him a huge hit."
"The Australian PGA Championship is a celebration of golf,
to have Marc and Adam join us on the Gold Coast the week after the World Cup of
Golf I hope gives us something extra special to commemorate."
The Australian PGA Championship is proudly supported by the
Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland’s It’s Live! in
Queensland major events calendar.
The Australian PGA Championship will be played at RACV Royal
Pines Resort from 1-4 December with tickets on sale via Ticketek.
