Fearns, Lonard perfect at Pymble

David Fearns and Peter Lonard have claimed bragging rights at the JL Pierce Transport Legends Pro-Am with rounds of 3-under 69 at Pymble Golf Club.

In a Ladbrokes Legends Tour field that featured 153 Tour wins worldwide amongst just 67 players the level of competition was again on show.

In his first visit to the NSW club in decades, Lonard thanked organisers for the day in which he took a one-shot victory alongside Fearns.

“I haven’t played here for probably 30 years I reckon,” Lonard said.

“It was great to play with some of the boys from back at Oatlands Golf Club where I used to work many years ago. We had a really fun day.”

Continuing his impressive year as a Legends Tour player was Nick Robb who shot 2-under 70 to finish in outright third place.

The Head Professional from Cromer Golf Club who qualified for the Senior Open Championship in July and recently finished top-10 in the Australian Senior Championship hopes to finish the year on an equally high note.

Peter Jones, Steve Conran, Tim Elliott, Michael Long and John Onions tied for fourth place at 1-under the card.

A fast finishing Michael Harwood has claimed the JL Pierce Transport Pymble Pro-Am firing 4-under 68.

""It was an eagle, birdie finish on his final two holes which edged out Champions Tour player David McKenzie who finished outright second at 3-under par.

The win elevates Harwood to third on the Ladbrokes Legends Tour Order of Merit behind Queensland’s Brad Burns and Victorian Tim Elliott.

Harwood gave praise to his recently acquired coach, PGA Professional Bruce McLean.

“I need to pay credit to Bruce McLean, I was struggling earlier in the year but I’ve been working with Bruce for the past few months and it’s feeling really good again," said Harwood.

"I always love playing Pymble and today’s event is a credit to everyone involved.”

Legends Tour Chairman Terry Price echoed the praise for Pymble Golf Club stating the event was the “blueprint” for Pro-Am tournament golf with club members, sponsors and Legends players encountering exceptional hospitality, camaraderie and a memorable golfing experience.
