The South Pacific Classic continued at Tina Golf Club and the blustery conditions from the first two rounds carried over to the second course of the tournament.

""Tina is a much shorter course than the Sheraton Deva where the first two rounds were contested but the layout demands accuracy from the tee and deft touch on the quick greens.

Thirty-six hole leader Daren Rix started steadily but a triple-bogey 7 on the par 4 10th stalled his round and even two birdies coming home only saw him card 76 for a 2-over total of 218.

Glenn Joyner, Steve Conran and Richard Backwell all broke the par of 72 with Joyner’s 2-under 70 the round of the day.

Once again Victorian Tim Elliott played solid golf with four birdies and three bogies in his round of 71 for a 1-under total of 215 to lead by three.

Elliott went out in one under but back to back three putts on the 11th and 12th holes stalled his round before birdies at 14 and 18 to steady the ship.

Local favourite Jean-Louis Guepy was only able to post a 4 over 76 to be in 6th place 8 shots back, the final round is underway.

Darren Rix is in the box seat at the halfway mark of the Ladbrokes Legends Tour South Pacific Classic and has a two-shot lead heading into the third round.

""Round two of the South Pacific Classic was played in blustery but fine conditions.

Overnight leader Tim Elliott struggled to find the form from round one but ground out a creditable 73 for an even-par total of 144.

Martin Peterson of New South Wales continued his consistent form with a second round of 73 to sit two shots back of Elliott.

But it was Queenslander Darren Rix who mastered the conditions and the course carding a 4-under par 68 to lead by two.

Rix managed five birdies in his round with the only blemish a bogey 5 on the tough 18th which was his 3rd hole of the day.

His long hitting proved pivotal driving onto the edge of the 340-metre par 4 9th narrowly missing his Eagle.

Players have a rest day today to make the two hour drive to Tina Golf Club in Noumea to contest the final 2 rounds on Friday and Saturday.
