Scott Priest has defied wild weather in Tasmania to win the Country Club Tasmania, SIW, IGA and Banjos Bakery Pro-Am at Prospect Vale at Country Club Tasmania.
In difficult playing conditions Priest shot a strong 6-under 65 to lead the day by two shots despite 20-30km winds lashing the course.
“Every round I have played this week, I have had one disaster hole,” said the Tasmanian.
“Today, I managed to keep a relatively clean card and make some putts, it added up to 65 and I’m stoked.”
Fellow Tasmanian-resident Matt Docking continued his great run of form in Tasmania, firing 4-under 67 to finish in second place ahead of Aiden Withers in third at 3-under 68.
Aside from the leaders, scores reflected the conditions with only five of the 34 players breaking par.
Despite the weather all players praised the quality of the course where greens were in particularly good condition.
“The course was in great shape and I look forward to returning next year,” said Priest after thanking all involved in the event.
The Tasmanian swing of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series continues with the Launceston Super 6 on 22 – 23 February at Launceston Golf Course.

Burdett, who will play in next week’s ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship presented by Toowoomba Regional Council, is happy to take a win into next week’s tournament.
“My round was a little up and down, but I managed to hit a 3 iron close at the last (the 11th hole) and holed my putt for an eagle,” said Burdett.
“I am pleased to take some form into the QLD PGA next week.”
Brady Wyatt finished in second place on 6-under the card, while in-form players Peter Wilson and Ryan Lynch tied fourth position at 5-under 67.

Gaunt set the early pace with 3-under 69 to be the clubhouse leader two shots clear of John Horvath and Andrew Kelly.
However, he was soon overtaken by Jeong whose round included seven birdies, one eagle and three bogeys including back-to-back bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes, his first two holes of the day.
“I thought, here we go again, another 85,” said Jeong who hit straight back with birdies on 17 and 18.
“I thought okay, I’m back on track I can grind this out.
“The course was amazing, the fairways are just perfect and the greens were really quick.”
After bogeying the 9th he was locked in a tie for first with morning leader Chris Gaunt at 3-under.
Jeong then birdied the 10th to go one clear and followed up with an eagle on the par-5 13th hole to move three clear of Gaunt.
Luke Hickman was 5-under coming to the par-3 3rd hole, his last hole. He made double bogey to slip into a tie for third on 3-under 69.
Mitchell Ohlmus’ round included four birdies and an eagle but closeing bogeys on the 4th and the 15th cost him the lead.
Jeong will continue to get competitive golf under his belt before jetting over to the United States with an aim to Monday qualify on the Web.com Tour.
“I will be playing the pro-ams locally and then later in the year I’m going to go to the States to try and Monday qualify for a few Web.com Tour events.”
