Ben Ford won the Raine & Horne Tasmania Pro-Am with a 4-under 68 in the one day event.
Ford opened his round with a birdie 3 on his first hole, the 15th, then recorded birdies at the 16th, 18th and the 1st to be 4-under the card after five holes.
A bogey at the tough par-3 8th threatened to derail his momentum however Ford bounced back with birdies on the 9th and 10th holes to be 5-under the card.
Continuing his roller coaster round, Ford made a double bogey at the 13th after his ball landed in an old tree stump. This saw him tied with clubhouse leader, Brody Martin on 3-under 69.
A birdie on his final hole handed Ford victory at the Tasmanian Golf Club in the only Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series order of merit event in southern Tasmania.
“I love coming here, the course is great, the people are fantastic and they’re really great events,” said Ford, who finished runner-up last year to local Simon Hawkes, who is now in the hunt for his second ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia title at the NZ PGA Championship.
“My girlfriend Laura is from just down the road. She caddied for me last year when I ran second to Simon, but she’s not here this year so I’ll probably have to dedicate this win to her.”
