Bitter cold winds and rain set in as the Perth sun disappeared at the third event of the WA Ladbrokes Legends Tour swing where Joyner continued his consistent form.
Yet to finish outside fourth place in all three events on the tour on the west coast, Joyner’s round of 3-under 69 saw him take a one-shot lead over the field.
“I love Perth and especially this golf course,” said Joyner.
“I remember playing here in the 1988 WA Open so I guess you could say I had a bit of course knowledge.
“Congratulations to all involved in an amazing first edition of the Joondalup Legends Pro-Am, I can’t wait to be back next year.”
Just five players shot par or better around the beautiful Joondalup Resort and Golf Course where Michael Long and Victorian Lucien Tinkler tied for second place on 2-under the card.
David Fearns completed the tournament in fourth place at 1-under while Steve Conran rounded out the top-5 on even par.
The Ladbrokes Legends Tour now moves to the TSA Sanwell Cottesloe Open for their last event on the calendar in WA. Play starts from 7am on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is free.
