Grafton District Golf Club will play host to more than 50 PGA Professionals in late September as the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing rolls into town.
The inaugural Grafton Pro-Am will take place on the Sunshine Swing, with Professionals looking forward to converging on the Clarence Valley, as they compete for the $11,000 prize purse.
Sunshine Swing Tournament Coordinator Justin Maker is excited for Grafton and is looking forward to the inaugural event.
"Pro-am golf has so many benefits, ranging from increased exposure, community benefits as well as the economic impact that the tournament has for the city," said Maker.
"This year we will see in excess of 120 Professionals competing from all over New South Wales and Queensland, with many looking to stay and eat within the community."
"Clarence Valley Council has been an integral part of the event being staged in Grafton this year. I have no doubt the Grafton Pro-Am will grow into one of the biggest events on the Grafton calendar and I look forward to continuing on with its success for many years to come."
Mayor Richie Williamson is also looking forward to welcoming the golfers to the Clarence Valley.
"The Grafton Pro-Am is a new event in our Sports Tourism program which is all about providing a boost to local business via visitor economy. We’d love the golfers to bring their families to stay and play in the Clarence Valley for the whole weekend, competing at the Yamba Pro-Am and following up with the Grafton event."
A quality group of Professionals from all over Australia and New Zealand will compete with the likes of Blake McGrory and current Sunshine Swing Order of Merit leader Tim Hart, making the trip to Grafton. Hart is in fine form after winning three events this season and will no doubt like to add the Grafton Pro-Am to his long list of achievements.
The Grafton Pro-Am will be played at the Grafton District Golf Club on Monday 28th September.
