Sunday stumbles costly for Hend

2016 has been Scott
Hend’s most profitable as a Professional but his final round at the Nedbank
Challenge is one he’ll want to banish from the memory banks.

""Starting Sunday T13
after three solid days’ work, Hend got going the wrong way early and couldn’t
regain momentum in a round that eventually saw him slip 31 places down the
leaderboard.

A double bogey at the
third and a triple three holes later on his way to an 8-over 80 was a
disappointing way to finish an otherwise encouraging week.

With the Gary Player
Country Club course playing tricky for the first three days, Hend was one of
only 15 players to negotiate the layout in red figures.

At 1-under through 54
holes he was 10 behind leader Jeunghung Wang and likely not a genuine threat
but a seventh top-10 of the season beckoned.

However, one of Hend’s
great strengths is his ability to put poor golf behind him quickly and he will
already have turned his attention to next week’s DP World Tour Championship.

This will be the
Queenslander’s second visit to the season finale and an improvement on his T56
finish last year will be high on the priority list.

Hend was one of three
Australians to tee up in South Africa, Marcus Fraser not finding the Gary
Player course to his liking with four over par rounds to finish T53.

The third Australian,
Nathan Holman, withdrew after nine holes of the third round due to injury. He
was 8-over for the round at the time and 20-over for the tournament. He has
also withdrawn from this week’s Emirates Australian Open on the ISPS HANDA PGA
Tour of Australasia.
