New Zealand’s Michael Hendry has taken top honours among the Australasian contingent in a challenging week at the European Tour’s Volvo China Open.
Hendry produced a final round 68 to jump 20 places up the standings and finish T13 in the OneAsia co-sanctioned event.
Hendry shot par or better all four rounds, his bogey free Sunday his best of the week.
Five Australasians made the cut at the Topwin Golf Club, Sam Brazel and Jason Norris next best at T48, Brett Rumford T59 and Matt Guyatt T65.
A total of 16 Australasians began the week but with the cut coming at 1-under, 11 of them missed the weekend.
Nick Cullen and Ryan Fox were one shot the wrong side of the number with David McKenzie two outside.
An opening round 76 was disappointing for Scott Hend and ultimately proved too much to overcome as he missed his second straight cut, he and Michae Sim both missing by three shots.
Andrew Dodt, Jason Scrivener, Steven Jeffress, Jordan Zunic, Lincoln Tighe and Nathan Holman were the others to pack their bags early.
