Adam Bland has posted just his third top-10 of the season to take top Australasian honours at the Japan Tour’s most prestigious event, the Japan Open.
Bland fired impressive rounds of 69-70-68-69 at the difficult Gifuseki Country Club East Course to be 4-under for the week and T7, four behind winner Yuta Ikeda.
One of five Australasians to begin the week, Bland was one of four to make the cut though lagged behind Brendan Jones, Brad Kennedy and Michael Hendry heading to the weekend.
However, as those around him struggled the South Australian continued to play steady golf and moved 12 places up the leaderboard over the final two rounds.
With three missed cuts in four events prior to this week Bland will be pleased to have found his game on a demanding course with some of the biggest tournaments of the season coming up.
Bland’s only other top-10 results came at the Token Homemate Cup in April and the Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open in July.
Brendan Jones was next best behind Bland at 1-over and T24, New Zealand’s Michael Hendry and Queensland’s Brad Kennedy one stroke further back and T29.
Todd Sinnott missed the cut by two with rounds of 70-75.
