Peter Senior has posted his best finish for the 2015 Champions Tour season firing a scintillating 7-under 65 in the final round to jump to a share of third at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
Senior, who has battled injury for much of the year, notched an incredible eight birdies and an eagle to climb 23 places on the leader board and into 42nd on the Charles Schwab Cup points list.
The top-30 at the end of the season are guaranteed playing rights for next year and with four full field events left Senior now has a good chance to earn back the status he lost last year.
Senior opened the week with a steady 4-under 68 to be in good position but a second round 73 saw him slip down the leader board.
He made a good start to his final round with a birdie at the third but really got things going with a hole-out for eagle at the par-4 sixth.
He made the turn 5-under for the round and while he picked up another four birdies on the back nine also gave back two shots to eventually finish four behind winner Jeff Maggert.
