After a brilliant final round in last week’s South African Open, Jason Scrivener will be looking to keep the roll going when he is one of five Australasians to tee up at this week’s Joburg Open.
After a brilliant final round in last week’s South African Open, Jason Scrivener will be looking to keep the roll going when he is one of five Australasians to tee up at this week’s Joburg Open.
Scrivener’s Sunday 66 at the Glendower Golf Club was bettered by only one player on the day and could provide a spring board to a good run of form.
The West Australian is already well placed on the Race to Dubai rankings having made the cut in all three events so far this season and could climb even further with some good play this week.
His experience at this event last year was a strange one where he posted scores of 64-76 on the two courses used for the tournament though that is unlikely to be repeated this year.
He is joined in the field this week by Dimi Papadatos, Terry Pilkadaris, Daniel Gaunt and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox.
Fox, in particular, has plenty to play for this year having blitzed the Challenge Tour in 2015 only to come up short of earning promotion to the European Tour on the end of season Order of Merit.
The 28-year-old has proved himself capable of contending at every level but needs to establish himself on a
Tour to have the opportunity to test himself week in and week out.
Papadatos, Pilkadaris and Gaunt will also be looking for good results this week, Papadatos after a promising performance at the Australian PGA Championship which has him in the top-40 on the Race to Dubai rankings.
