It’s been tough going in recent months for the West Australian pair of Brett Rumford and Jason Scrivener but both turned things around at this week’s Czech Masters.
Rumford finished top Australian at T19 while Scrivener jumped 17 places up the leaderboard with a 2-under final round to be T35.
It was a much needed bounce back for both players after not making a cut since May.
Rumford last played a weekend at the Irish Open while Scrivener’s last cut came in Mauritius when he finished T7.
With 13 birdies and an eagle for the week Rumford will be pleased with most aspects of his game though with only one round of less than 30 putts will look for improvement on the greens.
Scrivener made more birdies than Rumford over the 72 holes with 17 but also dropped more shots, his greens in regulation figures suggesting there is room for improvement with his irons.
Both players are in danger of losing playing rights for next season and this week’s play will have given each a much needed confidence boost.
Scrivener presently lies 101st on the Race to Dubai standings while Rumford is 109th. Only the top-110 are guaranteed status for next season.
The West Australian duo were the only full time European Tour members to tee up in the Czech Republic with Terry Pilkadaris, Daniel Gaunt and Didmi Papadatos also earning starts.
Pilkadaris finished on the same score as Scrivener with four consistent rounds while Gaunt spoiled an otherwise good week with a final round 74 to drop 23 places to T47.
Dimi Papadatos missed the weekend after struggling to a second round 80.
