Played in stifling heat at the Richmond Golf Club, Owen leads a strong field.
With a two round total of 4-under 136 he has a one shot lead over David Saunders from New South Wales.
Saunders also handled the hot conditions following his first round of 68 with a 1-under 69 today.
A further shot back is Victorian Tim Elliott, who carded the round of the day with a 2-under 68.
He is joined by Queenslanders Terry Price and Allan Cooper.
The immaculately presented Richmond layout has brought the best out of the players with the second round cut made at 9-over the card, four shots lower than last year.
The third and final round of the Australian PGA Seniors Championship will commence at 8am tomorrow morning with the lead group hitting off the 1st tee at 9.20am.
Providing the perfect opportunity to rub shoulders with golfing greats on the fairways at Richmond Golf Club, spectators are welcome and entry is free.
