Matt Millar continues to hold the lead at the Qantas Fiji Teams Challenge after a challenging second round.
Being played at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf
Course, Millar struggled in the second round firing 4-over 76.
The Canberra native looked to have a commanding lead on
the tournament after the first round but saw that quickly diminish; he now
holds just a one shot advantage over the field.
"Unfortunately I didn’t get off to the best start today,
and when you do that around this course it turns into a real battle for the
duration of the round," said Millar who recorded his breakthrough win on the
PGA Tour of Australasia at the Holden NZ PGA Championship in March.
"I probably haven’t been that scratchy on the course all
year and when you mix that with a few missed short putts, you’re not going to
shoot your best score."
"I will do a little practice this afternoon and hopefully
I will see a few more putts fall into the cup tomorrow."
Lurking just behind Millar is Queensland young gun Tim
Hart who has fired rounds of 73 and 72.
The 26-year-old is in great form having recorded 10
top-10 finishes on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series so far in 2015. Hart has
also backed this up on the PGA Tour of Australasia with a tied 4th
finish at the Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship.
New South Welshman Ed Stedman was the biggest mover in
the second round shooting a 4-under 68 to be in a share of third place with
Adam Stephens.
Stephens is also experiencing success in the team
stableford competition. He has his partner have combined for 172 points over
the opening two rounds; they are a shot clear of the team led by Professional
Charles Le Chevallier.
