The tournament, which pairs junior boys and girls with some of Australia’s top PGA Professionals, has been growing in recent years with more juniors taking part and seeing the two-day tournament holding a special place on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Circuit.

McKechnie opened with a sensational round of 9-under 63 to take a one shot lead over fellow Sydney Professionals Brad McIntosh, Jason King and Andrew Campbell and with more than 20 Professionals shooting sub 70 scores on day one, the course was primed for low scoring for Tuesday’s final round.

The final round provided a greater test with strong winds challenging all players, but it was McIntosh and McKechnie who carded rounds of 67 and 68 respectively to separate themselves and take a three victory.

The low round of day two came from Martin Dive who carded a 7-under 65 to join Edward Stedman in a tie for third place.

The tournament, which is now in its 27th year, is one of the few events in Australia that pairs Professionals with junior golfers – an initiative which has proven to be a huge success.

"Woodville Public Golf Course is an integral part of our parks and recreation program," said Parramatta City Council Lord Mayor, Scott Lloyd.

"This event provides a great opportunity for juniors to play alongside Professionals who do this for a living and we are thrilled with the turnout this year," he added.

"I always enjoy playing this event and the atmosphere with the juniors around is just wonderful," said McKechnie who parted with some helpful tips on Tuesday’s final round.

McKechnie and McIntosh will meet again along with 60 other Professionals this weekend for the annual Noraville Earthmovers Morriset Pro-Am, which tees off on Saturday ahead of events next week at Merewether, Wyong, Kooindah Waters and Waratah.
