South
Australian Max McCardle’s strong season on the PGA TOUR China continued this
week with a runner-up finish.

"MaxShooting 9-under
the card, McCardle recorded his career-best finish in China, his runner-up
result bettering a pair of fourth place efforts in the past two years.

At the PingAn
Pravite Bank Wanda Open, McCardle made his presence known on Sunday afternoon
finshing his round as the clubhouse leader after firing 7-under 65.

A hole out
eagle from 147 yards on the par-4 16th has the highlight of McCardle’s
final round but two pars to close wasn’t enough to get him over the line.

While happy
with his result, McCardle was left ruing his putting in the second round.

"I didn’t putt
well in the second round. I had 37 putts, which is probably about seven too
many. Just a little sloppy," said McCardle, who is eyeing a Web.com Tour card.

"I’ve played
pretty consistent all year. I feel like I’m playing well. I’m looking forward
to a little break and looking forward to the second half (of the season),
hopefully playing well while trying to get to America."

The top-five
money earners at the conclusion of the season are rewarded with 2017 Web.com
Tour membership, and this week was a big step in the right direction for McCardle.
He moved from No. 11 to fourth on the Order of Merit.

Third-round
co-leader Mathew Perry was right in the mix early in his back nine in the final
round.

The New
Zealander was 9-under after 11 holes, and trailing eventual champion Taewoo Kim
by a stroke.

He bogeyed the
par-4 12th then saw the wheels come off the cart. He hit two balls out of
bounds and eventually took a 10 on the par-5 13th to fall from contention. He finished
the tournament tied for 14th.

Australians James Gibellini and David
McKenzie also enjoyed good results this week finishing 4th and tied
5th respectively. Jack Munro also finished inside the top-10.
