Kade McBride has broken the China Tour record for the lowest ever single-round score following the final round of the Wuhan Optics Valley Open with a scorecard of 12-under 60 at Wuhan Yishan Golf Club.
Playing consistently on the China Tour early in the season, the outstanding 12-under round catapulted the 24-year-old to finish T4 on the leaderboard with a tournament total of 7-under 281, two shots behind an in-form Maverick Antcliff in outright third place.
“The fairways are narrow and difficult,” said McBride of the Wuhan Yishan Golf Club layout where he began the final round tied for 38th place.
Firing six birdies on the front-9 and a further six across the back-9, McBride even had the chance to make 59 on the last hole, describing his round as “unbelievable” when walking off the final green.
Following back-to-back wins at the China Tour’s season-opening tournaments, Antcliff remained among the front-runners in Hubei where his tournament total of 9-under 279 put him five shots adrift of winner Woojin Jung.
New South Welshman Troy Moses tied for 10th place at 2-under the card in a field where just 12 players finished under par.
