Bryden Macpherson has added to his impressive 2017 resume on the China Tour with a fifth top-3 finish in his 11^th start of the season.

The former British Amateur champion has six top-10 results already this year including a win, a runner-up and three third place results.

Macpherson has been the best of the Australasians in China all season and currently lies second on the money list behind Korea’s Rak Hyun Cho.

His play this week on a brutally difficult golf course was outstanding, rounds of 68-75-71-73 seeing him to 1-under for the week and just two shots behind the winner.

Thursday’s 68 was one of only three sub 70 scores Thursday, Macpherson seemingly revelling in the difficult conditions for the week.

With the recent announcement the PGA TOUR China would resume in 2018 after a year off there was a smaller than usual Australasian representation at this week’s Jiangsu Open.

Just six players from this part of the world teed up, all making the 36-hole cut.

Maverick Antcliff was next best behind Macpherson at 6-over and T11 followed by Kevin Yuan at 8-over and T13.

New Zealand’s Fraser Wilkin did well to overcome a second round 80 on his way to a T23 result, Mitchell Brown and Peter Martin rounding out the Australian challenge at T43.
