Macpherson, Geary fight for top honours

Josh Geary and Bryden Macpherson have made it a two horse race at the top of the PGA Tour China Order of Merit, the pair separating themselves from the rest in the dash for Web.com Tour status.

"BrydenBoth teed up in the Nine Dragons Open this past week and Macpherson cut into Geary’s lead at the top of the money list producing a T5 finish to Geary’s T15.

Geary has amassed just over AU$160,000 so far this season with Macpherson just AU$10,000 behind.

Next best on the list is almost AU$55,000 behind with only two events remaining on the schedule.

The top five on the Order of Merit at season’s end receive some Web.comTour status but the leading money winner receives a full card, a huge incentive to top the rankings.

Geary has won three times in nine events on the Tour this year while Macpherson, who returned to China after an unsuccessful season in America, has won twice in six starts.

The Victorian will have a good chance to overtake his New Zealand counterpart this week as Geary has elected not to play the Hainan Open.

That advantage will likely be reversed the following week, however, with Macpherson hinted he will skip the final event of the season to compete in the Australian PGA at Royal Pines.

Geary and Macpherson are the only two Australasians in the top 10 on the money list, Rohan Blizard next best at 11th though still a chance to play his way into the top five with some strong play in the next fortnight.
