Marc Leishman has found himself in a share of the lead after the second round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.
Starting the day on 5-under and only one shot off the lead, the 2012 Travelers champion has posted rounds of 65 and 68 to enter a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard on 7-under the card through 36 holes.
Carding four birdies and two bogeys on his way to 2-under, Leishman was please with his round even though the conditions were more challenging than yesterday with the afternoon wind.
"I’m Happy with the day. I didn’t play quite as well, but conditions were a little tougher late in the day with the greens and a little bit of breeze up. It was challenging, but I’m happy with the day," said Leishman.
"I Drove the ball pretty well again. Irons weren’t quite as good as what they were yesterday, and got a couple of lucky breaks that I capitalised on," he added.
"Hopefully keep driving the ball as I am. It would be nice to get a few iron shots a little bit closer and roll those putts in. That’s obviously the most important thing. I wasn’t able to roll too many in today, but I still shot 2-under."
Although slightly disappointed with his iron shots, Leishman is a perfect 30 for 30 when putting from inside seven feet this week.
Making his sixth start at the Travelers Championship, Leishman will be looking to repeat what Bubba Watson did last year and become the eighth multiple winner of the Travelers Championship. In addition to his win in 2012, Leishman’s next best finish was T11 in 2014.
Also in the field this week at the Travelers Championship are Cameron Smith, Stuart Appleby, Rod Pampling, Cameron Percy, Aaron Baddeley, Matt Jones, Greg Chalmers, Geoff Ogilvy, Robert Allenby and Steven Bowditch.
Smith and Appleby fired 3-under 67 and 2-under 68 respectively and head into the third round T16. Pampling also came out with a 2-under 68 to see him T24, while Percy, Baddeley, Jones and Chalmers are all T43 after round two.
The cut was made at 1-under the card with Ogilvy, Allenby and Bowditch all missing the weekend action.
