Anyone who has ever visited Fiji knows it’s the Fijian people who make Fiji special and the locals have certainly made their mark on seven time PGA TOUR winner and World Number 16, Matt Kuchar.
Upon his arrival this week, fresh from the Presidents Cup in Korea, Kuchar shared his love for Fiji and why the gem of the Pacific keeps drawing him and his family back.
"I was here two years ago and I just fell in love with the country and the ability to do so many different fun activities. I fell in love with the people, their friendliness, their warmth," said Kuchar.
Fijian hospitality is unique, the warmth and friendliness of the Fijian people has made Fiji even more celebrated as a destination than its spectacular scenery and just one of a number of reasons why the American enjoys returning.
"One highlight just showing up this year was being greeted at the airport and driving to the InterContinental Hotel and the guy at the guardhouse could not have had a bigger, louder or warmer Bula welcome."
"Every day when we make that drive into the Hotel he’s just the same, energetic, excited and welcoming, it’s a great representation of the warmth greeting you get here in Fiji," Kuchar added.
Kuchar was equally excited about the various activities on offer in Fiji and their accessibility which has enabled him to spend time with his family who are also travelling with him this week.
"The thing everyone wants to do is come and experience Fiji. They want want to bring their family, they want to hang out on the beach, they want to go snorkeling and diving. For me to get to do that is just a real bonus."
"I think it’s what people want to have happen here in Fiji, to have families come and everyone have a good time and go tell all their friends about what a great place it is. Two years ago we had that experience and I’m doing it all over again."
Earlier this week PGA Tour of Australasia regulars Matt Guyett and Ryan Fox took time out from the golf course and headed to Zip Fiji, a canopy zip line where tourist can experience a thrilling flying fox adventure.
The Fiji International will be played at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Club from the 15th – 18th October and will be broadcast internationally on FoxSports.
