Kennedy keeps rolling in Japan

Brad Kennedy notched his fifth top-10 in 11 starts while Matt Griffin posted his best result of his rookie Japan Tour season when the pair finished T6 at the Fujisankei Classic this week.

""Kennedy has been the form Australian of the Japan Tour in 2015 and despite not posting a victory has climbed to third on the money list with four top-3 finishes, including three runners-up.

He was on the cusp of yet another top two result this week when entering the final round outright second and four behind eventual winner K.T. Kim but fell away with a disappointing 2-over 73.

The 41-year-old has missed just one cut this year and been outside the top 25 only twice in 11 starts, a sustained run of form which suggests a third career Japan Tour victory is a real possibility before year’s end.

For Griffin the result was also a continuation of some good play, the 32-year-old obviously enjoying his first year in Japan with his second top 10 of the year.

Griffin has made his last three cuts with finishes of T8, T13 and T6, good enough to be 50th on the money list and well inside the number required to keep his card for next year at the halfway point of the season.

Kennedy and griffin were easily the best of the Australasians this week, Brendan Jones their nearest challenger at T18, one shot ahead of Adam Bland in T21.

Kurt Barnes (T26) was the last of the Australasians to make the cut, Michael Hendry, David Smail, Won Joon Lee, Steve Conran and Scott Strange all missing the weekend.
