After a close call at last week’s Dunlop Phoenix Open Brendan Jones will be looking to go one better at this week’s Casio World Open, one of the major events on the Japan Tour schedule.
Jones finished one shot out of a play-off last week and was disappointed to get so close and still come up empty handed.
However, after committing to work on his course management three weeks ago and eliminate silly mistakes the 13 time Japan Tour winner is obviously close to his best again and will like his chances this week.
Jones has a chequered history with the Casio event having played well at the tournament the first four years of the decade.
He finished T4 in 2001, second in 2002 and T2 in 2003 but left the tournament off his schedule for five of the next 10 years, including the last three.
Jones will be joined in the field this week by Brad Kennedy, who was T9 here in 2012 and is in good form in recent weeks, Steve Conran, Scott Strange and New Zealand’s David Smail.
Smail is a two time winner of the Casio but hasn’t been in his best form this year with no top-10’s to date.
