In-form Millar moves into NZ PGA lead

Matthew Millar has claimed the outright lead at the Holden NZ PGA Championship following the third round played at Remuera Golf Club today.

Matthew Millar has claimed the outright lead at the Holden NZ PGA Championship following the third round played at Remuera Golf Club today.

"MatthewStarting the day three shots off the lead Matthew Millar put
on an incredible display of golf as he fired a bogey free 8-under 64.

"I feel
pretty good about where my games at and this is the sort of golf course that
suits me," said Millar who is on 17-under the card for the tournament.

"I just got
off to a really good start, a lot of those holes early on I like the look of.
Twice now I’ve been 8-under through four (holes) this week."

With three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour of Australasia
already in 2015, Millar is the in-form player at the Holden NZ PGA Championship
and will take a two shot lead into the final round.

"I’ve
just found something inside of me that I wish I had twenty years ago, it
might have helped me on some of the other Tours I played for a long time," said
38-year-old Millar.

Tomorrow, Millar will draw on his experience at the
Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship where he also led into the final round.

"I was gutted after Toowoomba, I was very happy
for Ryan and for the way he finished," added Millar who was upstaged by
Ryan Fox’s two late eagles to win the title.

"You don’t
ever have the win until it’s signed off and you’ve got it, but I thought I was
a really good chance there, I did nothing wrong on the last day."

"I’m quite
hungry for that win, I’m here to win and I’ll give it my best tomorrow."

Flying under the radar for much of the day, Josh Geary
posted two birdies in his closing three holes to ensure that he is outright
second on 15-under the card.

He remains the leading Kiwi at the Holden NZ PGA
Championship after the third round.

Victorian Geoff Drakeford fired 5-under 67 today to be tied
third with fellow Victorian Kristopher Mueck and New South Welshman Jordan
Zunic on 14-under the card.

Ryan Fox also put on an impressive show in front of his home
crowd posting a 6-under 66 to be outright sixth and four shots off the lead.
