Making
a return to the PGA Pro-Am Series for the first time since 2011, the Mt Coolum
Pro-Am was run and won by New Zealander Sean Riordan.
Out
in the morning field, Riordan set the pace for the say, signing for a 4-under
68 thanks to a hot, birdie, birdie, eagle finish.
Spending
the day waiting, Riordan was pleased to see his score held up with the Kiwi
recording a one shot win over Chris Wood.
"Mt
Coolum is not an easy track. Hitting fairways is paramount to recording a
decent score," said Riordan.
"Everything
fell into place for me today. It was a bit of a grind midway through my round, but
to finish off the way I did is a real confidence boost."
Finishing
two shots off the pace in outright third was Paul Hayden.
Matthew
Guyatt, Ryan Haller and Jacob O’Brien rounded out the top-5 on 1-under the
card.
Professionals
will now enjoy a few days off, before the Coolangatta Tweed Pro-Am tees off on Friday.
A
quality field will be out to claim a victory at another new tournament for
2016, but Damien Jordan will the one to beat as he returns to compete at his
home tournament.
