After a
sluggish start to 2016 New Zealand’s Michael Hendry has been rounding into form
in recent weeks with three consecutive top-5 finishes.
Hendry
missed two cuts in his first five starts of the season but has turned things
around dramatically since failing to qualify for the weekend at the Kansai Open
tournament a month ago.
While he
has missed the cut at this event each of the last two years Hendry will be
banking on a much better result this year as he looks to climb even higher than
his current seventh position on the money list.
Also
trending in the right direction is Queensland’s Brad Kennedy who has missed
just one cut in eight starts this year.
Add to that
two top-5’s and a top-10 in his last four starts and he, too will be looking to
improve on his previous best finish here, a T17 which came in 2014.
Hendry and
Kennedy are part of a full complement of Australasian players teeing up this
week, Matt Griffin, Adam Bland, Scott Strange, Aaron Townsend, Kurt Barnes, Won
Joon Lee, Brendan Jones and David Smail also in the field.
