Victoria’s Mike Harwood jumped 19 players
in the final round of the European Senior Tour’s Swiss Seniors Open thanks to a
blemish free Sunday.
Harwood finished just outside the top-10
and leading Australian after closing with weekend rounds of 69-65 to be 6-under
for the week and T12.
It was Harwood’s best finish in his three
starts this season as the European Tour’s over-50’s circuit enters the busiest
part of its schedule.
Peter O’Malley finished at the same mark as
Harwood after a disappointing Sunday saw him drop from outright second
overnight.
Back to back opening rounds of 66 had
O’Malley just one behind third round leader Miguel Angel Martin but a triple
bogey seven at the 5th, followed by a bogey at the very next hole,
ended his chances.
Peter Fowler was the last of the
Australians in the field and finished T29 after also having a disappointing
final round.
Fowler began the day T13 but slipped 16
places after a closing 2-over-par 72.
