Green on the comeback trail

Richard Green has signaled a turnaround in form with a spectacular run of 6-under in five holes on his way to his first sub 70 score in two months.

""The 45-year-old left hander has been in a mini slump in recent months but a final round 69 at the Made in Denmark event, including a run of four birdies and an eagle from the second to the sixth, suggests things are on the improve.

Green was the only one of eight Australians in the field to make the cut, his 72 hole even par total good for T50.

Despite his final result not being what he would have wanted, there were plenty of positives for the European Tour veteran who carded two eagles and 12 birdies over the four days.

His final round of 69 is the first sub 70 score he has posted since the Nordea Masters in the first week of June and after some good play at the recent Paul Lawrie Matchplay event will have Green excited for the run to the end of the season.

Entering the week 139th on the Race to Dubai standings and in danger of losing his playing privileges for 2017, a rejuvenated Green now looks a chance push into the top-110 and play again next season.

For the remainder of the Australians in the field it was a disappointing week, Jason Scrivener, Brett Rumford and Andrew Dodt all missing the cut by a single stroke.

Rumford made a disastrous double bogey on the 36th hole to miss the weekend while Scrivener racked up a tournament wrecking triple bogey at his 15th hole on day two on his way to a 75.

Dodt fought hard in the second round after opening with a 74 but despite carding five birdies also dropped four shots to come up one shy of making just his second cut since May.

Dimi Papadatos, Terry Pilkadaris, Daniel Gaunt and Nathan Holman also missed the weekend.
