After winning the first event of the season Goggin’s game took an inexplicable nosedive, missing 10 cuts in his next 16 starts with a best finish of T37 and slipping outside the top-25 on the money list.
Despite showing glimpses of form in the last month, this week is the first time Goggin has posted four consecutive sub par scores since March, his final round 68 particularly encouraging.
While the $4,484 cheque for finishing T28 saw him drop one spot to 31st on the money list the good play will be a big boost as Goggin tries to make his way back to the PGA TOUR next year.
Goggin was the best of the Australians this week, one a head of Steve Allan who also maintained his money list position with a T35 finish.
Eight of the 13 Australians in the field made the cut though none genuinely contended at what was a low scoring tournament.
Brett Drewitt was the only other Australian to finish double digits under par, his minus 11 total good for T51.
Alistair Presnell and Rod Pampling both finished at 9-underand T62 ahead of Ash Hall (T72), Bronson La’Cassie (T75) and Adam Crawford(T80).
Missing the weekend were Rhein Gibson, Nick Flanagan, Aron Price, Oliver Goss and James Nitties.
