West Australian PGA Professional
Darren Garrett will be looking to secure one of two invitations on offer into
the Australian PGA Championship tomorrow, edging clear in today’s second round
of the PGA Professionals Championship.

"DarrenAfter
starting the day in a tie for the lead with defending champion Matthew Docking,
Garrett recorded four birdies on his way to a 2-under par round, which has him
leading the tournament outright on 5-under the card.

Garrett is
just one shot ahead of South Australian Chris Duke, joining him is last year’s
runner-up Vernon Sexton Finck who has stormed into contention with a tournament
low round off 66.

The final
round is shaping up to be an exciting battle, with a number of Professionals
within striking distance of the lead.

"Tomorrow should
be a lot of fun and I am certainly looking forward to the challenge.I know if I
continue to keep to my game plan as I have done over the first couple of days,
the result will look after itself," said Garrett.

"Hamilton
Island is such an amazing place, you sometimes have to pinch yourself to
realise how lucky we are to have the opportunity to play such a prestigious
tournament at this venue."

"This is my
first time playing the PGA professionals Championship Final. I think I will be
a little nervous on the first tee but I’m really looking forward to the chance
to qualify for the Australian PGA Championship."

Although not
please with his round today, Matthew Docking still remains in the hunt to claim
a third consecutive PGA Professionals Championship on the Hamilton Island
layout.

Docking sits
three shots back from Garrett, and will be drawing on the experiences of the
past two years in the final round as he looks to become the first three time
winner of the Championship since Brad Burns in 2005.

The final
round of the PGA Professionals Championship held at Hamilton Island Golf Club is
now underway.
