Daniel Fox has posted his best Challenge Tour finish of the season with a top-20 result to be leading Australian at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge in France.
Fox returned rounds of 69-73-66-72 for a 4-under total for the week and outright 19th, his best result in seven starts for 2017.
The 40-year-old West Australian is playing his first full year on Europe’s secondary Tour and while well down the standings on the Road to Oman he moved up 25 places with this week’s finish.
Fox was one of seven Australians in the field this week, Nick Cullen next best on the leaderboard one shot behind and T20.
Cullen leads the Australians in the race for a European Tour card, the left hander remaining 28th on the Road to Oman with the top-15 awarded playing rights on the main Tour in 2018.
Ben Eccles was a stroke behind Cullen and sharing 26th place, his best finish since T24 at the Czech Challenge in May,
Daniel Gaunt was the last of the Australians to make the cut and fired a final round 71 to finish T55.
Scott Arnold, Dimi Papadatos and Jordan Zunic all missed the 36 hole cut, Arnold particularly disappointed to miss by one after making a triple bogey at the 15th hole of his second round.
