Peter Fowler continues to be the dominant Australian on the European Senior circuit, the 58-year-old playing his way to a T5 finish at the Willow Senior Classic in England at the weekend.

Fowler finished one shot ahead of Mike Harwood at the Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel course in Hertfordshire, the venue where Harwood was runner-up last year.

Runaway winner Barry Lane’s victory was never on doubt Sunday after a stunning 12-under 60 on Saturday but Fowler will still be a little disappointed with his final round 72.

After opening with scores of 66-67 Fowler would have been hoping for another sub-par effort to climb even higher on the leaderboard.

However, after going to the turn in 3-over he did well to salvage his round with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine against a solitary bogey.

Harwood, too, will be disappointed with his finish Sunday despite a solid week of play, a bogey at the par-5 17th costing him a share of fifth place.

New Zealand’s Greg Turner was a further stroke behind Harwood with the last of the Australasians to tee up, Peter O’Malley, posting a 5-under total to be T23.
