Five to watch at the WA Open

This week sees the PGA Tour of Australasia in action at Royal Fremantle GC for the Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open.

"MinPlenty of the established stars as well as the next
generation of Aussie golf will be on display as the elite amateurs of Western
Australia join the Professionals on course.

Four former WA Open champions are in the field this week
while 128 other players will be hoping to claim the Roy Paxton Bowl.

Here are five players to watch this week:

Brett Rumford (WA)

Showing that his lack of tournament play this year is not a
barrier to winning, last week’s champion Brett Rumford is an obvious selection
for this week’s edition of five to watch. While many players struggle to
back-up the week after a victory, Brett has proven in the past this is not a
problem for him. This week he has a very good chance of winning back-to-back on
the PGA Tour of Australasia, a feat he has already achieved on the European
Tour.

Min Woo Lee (am)(WA)

Last week Min Woo Lee stepped out of his sister’s shadow as
he posted a course record round at Kalgoorlie GC to lead the WA PGA Championship.
This week Min Woo will be looking to go one better than Minjee and make the cut
at the WA Open, a feat his sister never achieved in her three attempts. Min Woo
is a legitimate chance to not only make the cut this week but also post a good
result, as he will be playing his home course, Royal Fremantle. He could in
fact become the first amateur since fellow Royal Fremantle member Oliver Goss
to win the WA Open title as an amateur.

Jason Scrivener (WA)

After spending 2015 competing on the European Tour, Jason is
the highest ranked player in the field this week. He comes into the week in
excellent form having finished tied third at the European Tour season closing
Hong Kong Open. Jason is confident this week believing his game is in good shape
and more refined that before he went overseas. He will also have some local
knowledge on his side as he played Royal Fremantle GC as a junior.

Daniel Fox (WA)

Daniel is enjoying one of his best seasons of recent times
on the PGA Tour of Australasia highlighted by his runner-up finish last week at
the WA PGA. His renewed form is down to a healthy and positive mental approach
to the game which has been enhanced by working with a new personal trainer, coincidentally
the same trainer as last week’s winner Brett Rumford. Familiar with the layout,
Daniel will be looking to continue his good form and attitude.

Rohan Blizard (NSW)

Rohan is a defending champion of sorts this week at the WA
Open. He was the last player to win the title when it was played at Royal
Fremantle in 2011. He also showed that his game is in good form finishing
runner-up to David Bransdon following a playoff at the Queensland Open. He has
also posted good results on the PGA TOUR China this season including four
top-10 finishes. Belief that he can win on this layout coupled with good form
will make Rohan a formidable force this week.
