Western Australian Professional Jarryd Felton has shot the low score of the day 8-under par 64 to take the outright lead at conclusion of the third round of the Ian Weigh Toyota Rockhampton Pro-Am.
Felton’s round was flawless reeling off nine birdies throughout his round till he faltered at the final hole taking a bogey six.
“I got off to a fantastic start making an eagle at the first hole, followed by a string of pars which certainly helped to steady myself before getting on a nice roll of 5 birdies in a row on the back-9, it was disappointing to bogey the last," said Felton.
“I’ve found the course really enjoyable to play this week as it is in great condition. There are a lot birdie opportunities but you have to be careful as the greens can be tricky if you finish on the wrong side of the hole so patience is the key. I’m in a good position with a two shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow and looking to continue my good form."
Local Professional Adam Blyth has moved up the leaderboard into second position after the third round after firing a score of 6-under par 66.
Blyth’s round included eight birdies and two bogey’s coming at the 200m par3, 11th and at the 535m par 5 14th hole.
“I got off to a really good start making birdie down the first which gave me a good boost of confidence," said Blyth.
“I struck the ball well today and all in all I am happy with my round. I had some extra support today in family and friends who came out to watch me play, so I am pleased I played well."
The next best placed professionals are Peter Martin 11-under par, Paul Hayden and Matt Millar are both on 10-under par heading into the final round.
