Jason Norris has chased down his young playing partner, amateur Min Woo Lee in the second round of the TX Civil and Logistics WA PGA Championship.
Starting the day with a one shot lead, Lee found today’s round more challenging after firing a course record 8-under 64 yesterday.
Opening with a birdie it looked like Lee would pick up where he left off however, a double bogey on the 2nd refocused the 17-year-old.
"I made a birdie on one, I holed a putt from off the green and that got me going. But I got unlucky on the second hole," said Lee who admitted today was challenging.
"I had to refocus for the third hole and the rest of the round. It was mentally tough today."
"The whole game I didn’t feel that good but I got it up and down when I needed to and holed a few more putts on the back-9. I finished up with 2-under so I am pretty happy."
Agreeing with his younger competitor, Norris believed that the challenging course set-up could be the reason behind today’s scores.
"It was definitely a lot harder today, mainly because of the pins. The conditions were pretty good, it got a bit hot on the back-9, but the pins were really tough today," said Norris, who still managed to fire a round of 3-under 69.
"I birdied the last couple of holes which is always nice, I was struggling a bit, I made a couple of soft bogeys with three putts after wedge shots in which is pretty poor, but it’s always nice to finish well."
After two round Norris and Lee are tied for the lead.
The afternoon field is now on course at the TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship.
