Endycott one step closer to Web.com Tour card

Sydney’s Harrison Endycott is one step closer to achieving his goal of playing on the Web.com Tour in 2019 after recording another top-10 finish on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica.

""Bolting out of the blocks with an eagle at the first hole of his final round, Endycott signed for a fourth straight round of 2-under 69 that delivered a climb of five spots on the leaderboard at the Volvo Abierto de Chile 2018 and a tie for 10th, his fourth consecutive top-10 finish.

American Jared Wolfe closed out a two-shot win with a second consecutive round of 4-under 67 to move up to 16th on the Order of Merit, two places behind Endycott who moved up one spot to 14th.

If Endycott can move inside the top 10 at the completion of this week’s Diners Club Peru Open he will earn a direct path to the Final Stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying School and at least some status for 2019 on the PGA Tour’s primary pathway.

In order to achieve this he would likely need to finish at least inside the top three at the Los Inkas Golf Club in Lima as he currently sits some $12,000 outside of 10th place.

Ryan Ruffels was the only other Australian playing in Chile but missed the cut with rounds of 70-75.

On the Champions Tour in North Carolina, Victorian David McKenzie registered his second top-20 finish in his past four starts, finishing tied for 18th at the SAS Championship won by German legend Bernhard Langer by six shots.

Starting the day tied for 15th, McKenzie was 2-under on his round through 10 holes and pushing for a top-10 finish but a lost ball in the water at the par-5 12th and a three-putt at the par-4 13th brought most of his good work undone.

Peter Lonard recorded an even-par round of 72 in his final round to move up 10 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 56th.
