In a dramatic finish on the 72nd hole of the tournament MattGriffin has emerged victorious at the BMW ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open.

All day it was a two horse race between Griffin and Taniharawith the Australian opening with an eagle to undo Tanihara’s overnightadvantage.

Neck and neck all day, the pair went to the 18^thwith Tanihara holding a one shot lead.

Griffin played a great tee shot down the par-4 18^thwhile Tanihara found the long grass just off the fairway.

With his second Tanihara found the front right bunkerleaving himself with a very tough up and down.

Meanwhile Griffin played best shot of the tournament,stiffing his approach shot to four feet.

Tanihara went 20 feet past the hole out of the bunker andwasn’t able to sink his par putt which went incredibly close.

With Griffin now standing over his birdie putt tied withTanihara he watched it sail into the hole and earn him the BMW ISPS HANDA NewZealand Open title.
