Oaky Creek Coal Tieri Pro-Am.
Shooting 7-under 66, Cox managed to edge out his
travelling partner Robert Weinert to win the title by one shot. Sitting out
right third and a further two shots back was Paul Hayden.
The key to success for Cox at Tieri was driving the ball
well to set up birdie opportunities.
"If you want to give yourself birdie opportunities you
need to be driving the ball well," said Cox.
"I felt like I gave myself plenty of chances today, I
didn’t take all of them, but I gave myself every chance."
Cox was pleased to get a hear earned win on the PGA of
Australia Pro-Am Series.
"It’s great to rack up a win on the Mining Town Series
Circuit, it isn’t that easy with the scores the other guys are shooting," added
Cox.
"Exceptional golf is required these days to walk away
with a win. Hopefully I can continue on with this form heading into Middlemount
on Wednesday and give it a shake."
The Onsite Rental Group Mining Town Series will reach the
halfway mark when Professionals tee off on Wednesday at the Middlemount Pro-Am.
Marcus Cain will be looking to turn things around after
relinquishing his lead following today’s round at Tieri.
Paul Maiolo currently leads the way at 20-under the card
after five rounds.
